Coastal habitats are exposed to sea-level rise and storm erosion. Where hard sea defences sit behind them, there's nowhere landward to retreat to — a squeeze that keeps compressing the habitat no matter how well it's managed.

Description
Description This is a fine example of a mixed deciduous woodland developed on an east-facing steep cliff comprised of rocks of Silurian (Tarannon and Llandovery) age. The tree layer is scrubby, with birch, oak and rowan well represented. Ash is locally present. The site is grazed, but the crevices and rock ledges are relatively inaccessible. Notable plants include rock stonecrop Sedum forsterianum and the lichen Peltigera apthosa, a predominantly northern species occurring here at its only known locality in Powys. Remarks: Registered as common land.
