Description

Description Alder predominates in this, the largest woodland developed on gently sloping waterlogged soils in the district. Oak, ash, bird cherry, holly and hazel occupy the drier areas whilst in the wettest areas glades support rushes Juncus spp. and sweet-grasses Glyceria spp. A number of uncommon plants are recorded from the wood, including herb paris Paris quadrifolia, white climbing corydalis Corydalis claviculata and lesser water-parsnip Berula erecta.
