Description These old mine workings, situated just south-east of the village of Bontgoch, are on the Camdwr Lode, which is up to 9 metres in width and consists predominantly of quartz, with minor galena, chalcopyrite and sphalerite. Manganese was also worked for a short time. Host rocks are the Silurian Devil’s Bridge Formation. The dumps are extensive and of interest in being one of the few places in Wales where secondary minerals of lead and copper are well developed. Cerussite, malachite, azurite, linarite and serpierite have been recorded, but little work has been done on the mineralogy, and it is possible that other phases are present, including an extensive range of manganese minerals.
