Geological Period: Silurian
Description
Description The section of late Silurian rocks exposed here is made up of silty mudstones and siltstones spanning the late Ludfordian and Downtonian stages. These beds, equivalent to the Whitecliffian strata of the type Ludlow area, contain a well preserved shelly fauna. This is the only locality in the Usk Inlier that shows clearly the transition from the Ludlow to the Downtonian.
