Description
Rannoch Lochs Rannoch Lochs SSSI comprises a grouping of five oligotrophic freshwater lochs: Loch Dochard (Argyll and Bute); Loch Ossian, Loch na Tota and Loch na Sgeallaig (Highland); and Lochan Loin nan Donnlaich (Perth and Kinross) located around Rannoch Moor in the southern Highlands of Scotland. They are between 220 and 420 metres above sea level. The site is in remote, upland terrain where human activity is low. The group of lochs that comprise the Rannoch Lochs Site of Special Scientific Interest is nationally important for breeding black-throated diver. These lochs support in excess of 1% of the British breeding population and maintain higher than average chick productivity . Black-throated diver Gavia arctica
