Description
Whitehouse Den Whitehouse Den is 2km northeast of the village of Tealing, north of Dundee. It is a Lower Devonian locality, showing shales of the Arbuthnott Group Dundee Formation. These fossil-containing sedimentary rocks were laid down around 390 million years ago. They are of Gedinnian-Siegenian age and yield fossil material of acanthodian fish. The site is the only extant locality of the original sites historically known collectively as ‘Tealing’. It is an historic site with considerable potential for vertebrate research.
