Description
Roughneuk Quarry Roughneuk quarry, lying 4 km north of Dailly, shows the rocks of the Llandovery Mulloch Hill Formation. This formation, of Rhuddanian age (around 440 – 437 million years ago), contains a diverse shelly macrofauna, of greater diversity than most early Llandovery sites in Britain, including a common Crypotothyrella brachiopod community. This is an important site for regional and comparative studies of Silurian marine faunas and environments.
