Description
Romadie Wood Romadie Wood lies on the west bank of the Black Water just north of Bridge of Cally. It is important for its mixed ash woodland and its population of whorled Solomon’s seal Polygonatum multiflorum, a plant only found in Perthshire in Britain. The site is a small mixed deciduous wood comprised largely of ash, wych elm and hazel on the steeply sloping banks. The wood is very rich in plant species, including a small population of whorled Solomon’s seal (listed on Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act), and small cow-wheat which is nationally scarce, as well as a wide range of species characteristic of base-rich soils in gorge woodlands.
