Description

Mingulay and Berneray Mingulay and Berneray are two adjacent islands which lie about 14 km south-west of Barra at the southern end of the Outer Hebrides. Mingulay and Berneray regularly support nationally and internationally important breeding populations of seabirds. The cliffs of Mingulay and Berneray support large numbers of breeding fulmar, guillemot, kittiwake and razorbill, representing more than 1% of the British populations of each of these species. As well as being important nesting sites for these individual species, Mingulay and Berneray are also of strong scientific and nature conservation interest for their diverse assemblage of 15 species of breeding seabirds.
