Description
Millburn Millburn wood, lying just over 1km to the east of Larkhall, comprises an area of upland mixed ash woodland within the Clyde River Valley. It is an area of predominantly ash and wych elm woodland in a steep sided gorge, most of which was last coppiced approximately 50-60 years ago. There is a dense understorey of hawthorn and hazel with a rich ground flora. Of addition interest, although not part of the notified interest, are small glades of species rich grassland and populations of various invertebrate fauna including two notable flies (Diptera) and one rare small ermine moth (Lepidoptera), Zelleria hepariella.
