Description
Loch Doon Loch Doon Site of Special Scientific Interest, approximately 6km south of Dalmellington, supports the last ‘naturally occurring’ population of Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus in south-west Scotland. In addition, the Loch Doon fish are now thought to be genetically distinct from other naturally occurring populations, the nearest of which are in Argyll and Cumbria.
