Description

FLANNAN ISLES The Flannans are an archipelago of rocky islands and their skerries which lie 32 kilometres (20 mi) west of the Isle of Lewis. They are internationally important for their large populations of breeding seabirds. There are large colonies of breeding auks, kittiwake and fulmar on each of the islands, and a number of gannets on Roaireim. Flannan Isles SSSI is designated as Flannan Isles Special Protection Area (SPA) for the birds listed below.
