Description
EYNHALLOW Eynhallow is a small, uninhabited island in the Eynhallow sound between Mainland Orkney and the island of Rousay. It is notified for common seals (Phoca vitulina). The site is one of the two most important breeding and haul out sites for common seals in Orkney, and supports on average more than 10% of Orkney’s total common seal population. The island also supports a locally important seabird assemblage and moorland assemblage, although these are not notified natural features of the SSSI.
