Description
EASTHAVEN Easthaven SSSI is located approximately 2 miles northeast of Carnoustie, on the Angus coastline, by the village of East Haven. The site is the only recorded location in Scotland of the greater yellow-rattle Rhinanthus angustifolius (formerly known as Rhinanthus serotinus). It is recorded at only 10 other sites in great Britain. The population of greater yellow-rattle at Easthaven is important in a geographical context, as it is the most northerly station in Britain for the species by about 150 miles. The greater yellow-rattle plants are found growing here in tall, herb-rich neutral grassland on the fore dunes.
