Description
DALCROY PROMONTORY Dalcroy Promontory lies at the western end of Loch Tummel, in a sheltered bay between an island and the north shore of the loch. The site comprises a small area of largely flat ground and a small area of the loch. Dalcroy Promontory is important for pillwort Pilularia globulifera, an aquatic fern, which grows on bare mud, and is able to tolerate seasonal fluctuations in water levels. pillwort is an internationally threatened species that is declining throughout its range (western Europe). In the UK the number of locations where pillwort was found has fallen by more than a third in the last century.
