Description
CRUADAY QUARRY Cruaday Quarry in Sandwick is noted for its abundance and quality of fossil specimens exposed in the natural geology of the Sandwick Fish Bed revealed through previous quarrying activity. The geology of Cruaday is from the Eifelian Epoch (middle Devonian period) and is of importance because of the fossils embedded in the rock. These fossils contain evidence of some of the earliest known species of fish as well as being very well preserved specimens. The concentration and abundance of species is also of great importance.
