Description

ARNPRIOR GLEN Arnprior Glen SSSI is an upland mixed ash woodland set within an Old Red Sandstone gorge at the village of Arnprior, between Buchlyvie and Kippen. The woodland in the gorge is largely dominated by ash, wych elm and sessile oak, with an understorey of hazel and bird cherry, and a rich ground flora. The woodland along the lip of the glen is made up of mainly coppice oak and hazel, with much less ash and elm than in the gorge below. Arnprior Glen is one of the least disturbed and modified of the old red sandstone gorge woodlands in Stirlingshire.
