Description

ACHNASHEEN TERRACES Achnasheen Terraces SSSI is located to the south of Achnasheen and is bisected by the Inverness-Kyle railway and the A890 road. The site encompasses one of the best examples in Scotland of a suite of outwash terraces associated with a stage in the deglaciation of the last ice sheet. The fine detail of the terraces, their compact form and clear visibility, and the striking examples of ice contact slopes at their western and south-western margins are particularly distinguishing features of this site.
