Rock Type: Ironstone, Sandstone

Description

Description These cuttings together constitute a source of data on the biostratigraphy of the Spilsby Sandstone and Clay ironstone in the area. The fauna of the Claxy ironstone is richer here than at any other locality. The site shows the lithological variation present in the Mid Spilsby nodule bed, including the numerous phosphatic nodules seen elsewhere in Lincolnshire. A key locality for the Ryazanian and Valanginian.
