Description

Area, 1.9 ha. 4.7 ac. Description A new Palaeocene aged flora, one of only three known in the country, has recently been discovered in the Reading Beds at this site. This assemblage of seeds and fruits is the most diverse known from these Palaeocene strata. Four new genera, unique in the world’s Tertiary deposits and sixteen new species have yet to be described from Felpham. In addition to seeds and fruits, fern fronds, palm stems and leaf fragments also occur. An outstanding site unusual for its variety of preservational states and unique floral assemblage.
