Description

Area, 2.7 ha. 6.6 ac. Description Slickstones Quarry is an outstanding site for its reptilian faunas. The site has yielded four sphenodontid species, including Clevosaurus hudsoni and Planocephalosaurus robinsonae, as well as a dinosaur and five other reptiles, one of which is stratigraphically the youngest known procolophonid. These fauna have tentatively been assigned to the late Triassic Norian. This is the type locality for Clevosaurus, the best known early sphenodont.
