Coastal habitats are exposed to sea-level rise and storm erosion. Where hard sea defences sit behind them, there's nowhere landward to retreat to — a squeeze that keeps compressing the habitat no matter how well it's managed.

Description
Area, 0.45 hectares 1.13 ac Description This locality shows the Hunstanton Till, a glacial deposit of Devensian age Late Pleistocene restricted to the coastal fringe of north west Norfolk, but correlatable with the similar glacial deposits of the Hessle Till of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The site gives evidence of a comparatively widespread late Devensian glacial event ice advance, but one which did not spread further south in East Anglia than this portion of Norfolk. The best site for the Hunstanton Till, with much potential for future Pleistocene studies.
