Geology & landscape
Geological Period: Silurian
Description
Area, c0.5 ha. cl.0 ac. Description This is the type locality for the Llandovery Damer Formation, of Telychian age. Its mudstones and sandstones contain a diverse brachipod fauna and a distinctive acritarch and spore flora. Recycled Tremadoc acritarchs, eroded from the Micklefield Beds below, occur with the Llandovery microflora. This is a key regional site for studies of Lower Silurian biostratigraphy and sediments.
