Coastal habitats are exposed to sea-level rise and storm erosion. Where hard sea defences sit behind them, there's nowhere landward to retreat to — a squeeze that keeps compressing the habitat no matter how well it's managed.

Description
Burton Bradstock SSSI Formerly called ‘Burton Bradstock Lane Section’. Boundary amended by deletion. Within Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Geological Conservation Review site. Description Cliff Hall Road provides an excellent section of the junction of the Aalenian/Bajocian Inferior Oolite, with the mainly Toarcian Bridport Sands. In particular it provides what is probably the best exposure of rocks of aalensis subzone, levesquei Zone age in Britain.
