Description
Area, 0.9 ha. 2.22 ac. Description This locality shows a fissure filling emplaced in Carboniferous Limestone, interpreted as a product of infilling of an underground water course. It is dated, by palynomorphs, as being of Rhaetian age. The filling has yielded seven reptile species including a newly described sphenodont, other sphenodontids, a crocodile and a dinosaur, associated with fish and the Crustacean Eustheria. This is a key site in studies of late Triassic vertebrate biotas.
