Description
Description Broughton Bank is a nationally important locality for its Jurassic floras. Extensive outcrops in the Saltwick Formation have yielded over seventy species of fossil plant. The special interest of the site arises from the association within the plant bearing lens of reproductive organs, leaves and shoots, which make it possible to reconstruct the gross structure of entire fossil plants. The excellent state of preservation of the material from Broughton Bank, permitting the study of surface features in fine detail, makes it an outstanding site.
