Description

Description At Bottom Head a newly discovered plant horizon occurs in the Saltwick Formation, a further locality for fossil plants to complement Yorkshire's long renowned series of palaeobotanical sites. This locality has yet to be fully assessed, but has much research potential especially with regard to the Cycad reproductive organs which it yields and is of great importance for studies of gymnosperm evolution and toxonomy. Other Information This is a new site identified as of national importance in the Geological Conservation Review.
