Description
Area, 1.1 hectares 2.72 ac Description Cliff Farm Pit provides the best and most extensive exposure of the economically important Kirton Shale Member of the Lincolnshire Limestone Formation, in this its type area. The site provides the thickest section through this fine clastic development, which is restricted to north Lincolnshire. The Kirton Shale is well known for its coral fauna. Other Information This site is identified as being of national importance in the Geological Conservation Review.
