Description

Area, 0.75 ha. 1.86 ac. Description An excellent exposure of Silurian Wenlock Limestone, particularly noted for its small reef like mounds 'ballstones' and associated sinuous drapes of overlying bedded limestones. These limestones are very fossiliferous, containing a great variety of fossil organisms. Many of the fossils from this locality have been described and figured in scientific publications dating from the mid 19th century – including classic texts by T Davidson.
