Geology & landscape
Mining / Industrial: Quarry · Rock Type: Limestone, Sandstone
Description
Area, 0.4 ha. 1.0 ac. Description This quarry provides a good accessible exposure through about 75 metres of Drybrook Sandstone. These sandstones contain good sedimentary structures and trace fossil surfaces including the form genera Diplocraterion, Skolithos, Planolites, Zoophycos and Chondrites, suggesting a probable shallow marine environment. The Drybrook Sandstone here lies between the Chadian Whitehead Limestone and the overlying unconformable Coal Measures.
