Description
Area, 0.2 ha. 0.5 ac. Description This exposure of late Silurian rocks shows the most extensive, continuous section through the Lower and Upper Longhope Beds of the Ludfordian. These are overlain by the Clifford’s Mesne Sandstone which has the Ludlow Bone Bed at its base. Extensive bedding planes show rich, characteristic, late Ludlow shelly macrofaunas. Well preserved marine microfloral assemblages have been recorded throughout the sequence. This locality is important for studies of late Silurian rocks in the southern Welsh Borders area.
