Description
Area, 1.0 ha. 2.5 ac. Description This pit is of geological importance as a classic site in the study of the Early Pleistocene history of East Anglia. It is the section used by Harmer to typify his Butley division of the Red Crag, a geological time unit defined from this site. It exposes magnificent cross bedding structures within the crag indicative of strong current action and is rich in marine Molluscs.
