Description
Area, 0.33 hectares 0.81 ac Description The Reading Beds at Bolter End are of a very unusual type in that they contain beds of gravel consisting of flint together with pebbles of quartz, quartzite and lydite. These are evidence of fluvial erosion of Lower Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic rocks after the stripping of the younger overlying Chalk. A key site for Tertiary studies and for its relevance to the topographic development of southern England.
